LouderTV is a app which allows any smart phone to become a hearing aid. When you first set up the app it tests your hearing and gives you advice based the results. The app then asks a series of questions about high, medium and deep pitch which fine tunes the app to you hearing condition. Another great feature of this app is it can be installed onto older iPhones and iPods, allowing unused phone to have a use. As the app name suggests a major use of this app is for hearing impaired people to watch and hear TV better. I massive problem for the elderly is watching TV especially with friends and family who may have good hearing. Many users of this app position the phone directly next to the TV and then use long wired or bluetooth headphones.
For me this would work perfectly at a family gathering or wedding, the phone could be placed closer to the speakers and would allow the listener to pic the sound more loudly.
The makers of LouderTV also encourages people to donate older smart phones which they then give to those who cannot afford a smart phone. Great idea especially when it potentially uses older, discarded technology.
